Soren
In Loving Memory of Soren I ride for my son, Soren—a bright, curious, and joyful soul whose smile lit up every room. Though his time with us was heartbreakingly short, his spirit continues to guide me every day. Soren faced leukemia with unimaginable courage, and even in the darkest moments, he radiated love and light. His bravery, laughter, and gentle heart are forever etched in mine. This ride is for him. For the dreams he never got to chase. For the stories he never got to tell. For the future he deserved. Every kilometre I pedal is a promise: To fight for children like Soren. To support families walking the hardest path. To help build a world where no child has to face cancer. Soren, this is for you. Your light lives on in every ride, every donation, and every act of kindness. You are missed beyond words, loved beyond measure, and remembered always.
My Story
This October marks my 6th year riding in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer—and I’m once again asking for your support.
I ride for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, whose groundbreaking work is helping to prevent, diagnose, and treat childhood cancers. But more personally, I ride in memory of my beautiful son, Soren.
Soren was a joyful, curious little boy whose smile lit up our lives. In 2019, our world changed forever when he was diagnosed with leukemia at just two years old. Despite his incredible courage and the love surrounding him, we lost him. Soren was our light, and he continues to inspire me every single day.
No child should have to face cancer. No parent should have to endure the heartbreak of losing a child. That’s why I ride—not just for Soren, but for every child and every family affected by this cruel disease.
Over the past six years, this challenge has become more than just a fundraiser. It’s a tribute. A mission. A way to turn grief into hope. Every kilometre I ride is for Soren, and for the thousands of children who are still fighting. I ride for their futures, for their smiles, and for the chance to grow up healthy and strong.
But I can’t do it alone.

This world-leading cancer research program is creating the tools to help doctors choose the best existing cancer treatments for their patients. $2.1m in GCC dollars in 2024 helped to develop artificial intelligence-based methods to improve the understanding of how cancer cells behave, better diagnose cancer subtypes, and predict whether cancers are likely to relapse. It also helped fund upgrades of the research equipment, including the specialised machinery that precisely delivers the cancer samples into the advanced analysers.
