All smooth sailing till disaster struck at 267 kms just 3 kms from home. Back tyre flat as!!! Looks like I picked up a fencing staple. However, at the kerbside, I was unable to remove it with my fingers. An embarrassing walk home.
Once consoled it required my trusty side cutters to delicately remove to my surprise a fastening pin. All repaired and ready to go again.
Been a good start with 240kms completed. Some rides were on the limit with strong head winds.
Here we go! One sleep to go! For we ride tomorrow.
I'm ready (and excited) to start my 1000km challenge. Prepped and ready to roll. Seats adjusted, tyres pumped and I ready to jump on my bike to ride fight kids cancer. Follow my progress on my page at: greatcyclechallenge.com

I look forward to your support.

On my training ride today, I came under a serious magpie attack outward bound near the Big Oyster. Luckily, there was no repeat performance on the homeward leg. Looks like I will have to run the gauntlet every time I head north out of town.
However, not long now to doing some serious kms.
It that time of year again as I set off in the Great Cycle Challenge. This year I'm riding for Audrey. At just 1year-old she has been diagnosed with grade 4 medulloblasdtoma in March just after first birthday.
She has endured multiple surgeries including a 12-hour surgery to remove the majority of her 4.5cm tumour, intensive chemotherapy and countless other pokes, prods and procedures.
So, I'll be riding for Audrey and I chase down the kms.
I am looking forward to your support of me and Audrey in this year Challenge.
The Taree Landmarks & Memorials Tour is a first cycle ride with cometery around Taree. Some not so well known memorials will be visited.
A big shout out to the Rotary Club of Taree for their support this Saturday 20th September at Hub Markets - Taree Showground 8am - 12.30pm. I'll be holding a fundraising table for my Great Cycle Challenge 2025.
1000kms goal and $3000 fundraising goal for the Children's Medical Research Institute. (Let's kick cancer's butt!)
Come and say Hi!
All is set for this my seven year legacy riding in the Great Cycle Challenge. Thanks to Rick from the Manning River Times article this week, "Darcys back in the saddle."
Breaking new ground with a fundraising table at the Hub community markets at the Show Ground Saturday Thanks to Taree Rotary. Also, the Group Ride on Sunday 12th October starting at Raw Sugar at 10 am for a lap round Taree looking at five memorials and landmarks
Getting set for another GCC with the bold aim of 1000km/$3000 this October. I'm feeling pretty good and hoping to get plenty of support.
Also, that's 30 donations so far.
