Edie

Edie was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November 2023. She had surgery a few days after Christmas to remove two lumps and seven lymph nodes. She then had six months of Chemotherapy followed by a month of radiation therapy. She is now officially cured! It was physically tough on her and still is, with the lingering effects of the treatments leaving her constantly tired, headachy, dizzy, nauseous and itchy. All through it we could see the rationale in the treatment and see the end, that the horrible treatment was for a good reason. Now try explaining that to a three year old child, that they are suffering so much for so long. Any amount that you donate goes directly to the Children's Medical Research Institute for research into better treatment of cancers in children.

Hello everyone,

This is my SIXTH year doing the Great Cycle Challenge. Last year, with generous donations, WE raised over $3400 to go directly to the Children's Medical Research Institute cancer research team. Add to that the totals from previous years, a grand total of $12,700! FANTASTIC!

Most of you would be aware that Edie and I had our very close and personal encounter with cancer, with Edie having been diagnosed with Breast cancer in November last year. Well, after surgery, Chemo and radiation therapy, she has just been given the "ALL CLEAR". GREAT NEWS!

BUT, cancer is not just confined to us oldies. It affects EVERYONE, including very young children.

Cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 600 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So, once again I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer. Their research has flow-on effects into other cancers in all ages.
