This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.

I have been riding since 2017 and my grandsons have also joined the Challenge, Edward (12) in 2018, and Doug (10) and Hugh (8) in 2019. Together we ride as team Awesome Kids4kids and have raised over $80,000 since we started being the second highest fundraising team and individually 12th,13th,14th & 15th in 2024. ($40,935.03)

Two main parts of our fundraising this year are collecting Return & Earn and standing in shopping centres with buckets. Both rely on the generosity of our local community and our support increases year after year. We also write to community groups and businesses requesting sponsorships.

I am saddened and moved when people come up to me and share some of their stories of children or grandchildren who did not survive, but then I am enlightened hearing and meeting those who did.

We are aiming for $45,000 this year.
