My Story
This October, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Because right now, cancer is the largest single killer of children from disease in Australia – over 700 children are diagnosed with cancer every year and sadly, 3 die every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
And so I am riding and raising funds to support the Children's Medical Research Institute to continue their work into the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support my challenge by making a donation through my fundraising page to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Together, we can save little lives.
Thanks for your support.

First Day
1 Oct 2025Alteouise and I retired to sleepy little Chillagoe earlier this year. It’s a beautiful locality, surrounded by awesome limestone karsts and numerous caves. A rich history with indigenous rock art, a smelter in ruins and the remnants of a wild and dangerous mining industry.
Today’s ride took us from the Balancing Rocks to the cemetery.
In the early 1900’s, a typhus outbreak decimated the local population. Some infants died from the disease. Due to a lack of sterilisation and fear of contamination, the poor little kids were wheeled out to the cemetery. The cots were placed over the graves, the springs were cut, and the little bodies lowered into their graves. The cot frames were left in place, still there to remind us of the tragedy and fragility of life.
Times have changed and with vaccination, sanitation and hygiene most of these tragedies need not be repeated.
There is no such thing as a cancer. The word is used to include a vast array of conditions, mostly with the same mechanisms, but disastrously different in their effects.
I doubt there will ever be a vaccine, a cure-all remedy or a guaranteed solution.
That’s why research and continued treatment are fundamental in keeping our younger population healthy, safe, playing and learning, and not in graves.
