My Story
Audrey is one of our 2025 GCC Ambassadors and is 1 year and 4 months old.
Audrey is a sweet and happy bub, with her mum telling us, “She’s the kind of baby who beams at strangers and offers big, heart-melting smiles and sounds to everyone she meets.”
Her cancer journey started earlier this year, not long after her 1st birthday...
A routine family health check-up raised some concerns about Audrey’s head circumference, with the nurse noting that it had increased. She told Audrey’s parents, “just to be safe, let’s get it checked.”
What followed was shocking and heartbreaking… Audrey’s parents were told that she had hydrocephalus, that she had a brain tumour, and finally, that she had brain cancer.
On the 1st of May 2025, Audrey was officially diagnosed with grade 4 medulloblastoma with metastatic spread through her central nervous system.
It’s an aggressive high-risk brain cancer that requires a complex and intensive treatment plan.
Little Audrey had 6 surgeries in 6 weeks, including a 12-hour brain surgery to remove the majority of her main 4.5cm tumour.
She’s also had her entire blood volume replaced, several blood transfusions, lumbar punctures, and countless other pokes, prods, and procedures.
As she receives treatment, she’s had to remain in hospital as an inpatient being fed via nasogastric tube. This brave bub has also faced surgery complications and infections that have caused some delays to her treatment schedule.
Audrey’s quiet strength, courage, and fighting spirit are palpable. When things feel uncertain, her love raises up her parents and her big brother, Elliott.
Kids like Audrey should be living life, NOT fighting for it.
